About this site

Kiri is the name of the person who owns(?) this website (maybe this website owns them, actually). 'Nyan' is the sound a cat makes in Japanese, so the Japanese version of 'Meow'. For some reason Kiri thought this was cute when registering this site in October 2012.

Kirinyan.net was once a personal blog between 2013-2015, with posts imported in going back to 2008. It was subsequently not used for around 5 years, and accidentally taken down sometime in 2020, then languished for 5 years not resolving to anywhere. The domain was also nearly surrendered (auto-renew was turned off at the domain registrar), as a different domain was sought out. (Some bullshit about not liking the descender in the letter y, which made the domain look unbalanced.)

However, a decision was since made to keep the domain name as it has historical and nostalgic value, and it has since been revived and will be used again for a mixture of purposes - reviews, art, and perhaps some personal too.

About me

Kiri is based in Sydney, Australia; and often depicts themself online using a blue cat plush that everyone thinks looks like a teddy bear. (But he has a long tail? So he can't be.)

They work in IT-adjacent roles, working with data and often in a customer service capacity. Kiri also dabbles in art and design on the side, and has freelanced in the past doing creative design, web design, and consulting. Kiri has a vendetta against Canva, but a bigger vendetta against Adobe.

Kiri enjoys travel (especially to Japan), bubble tea, reading, watching VTubers (particularly Caspurr Catacini), drawing (on occasion), crafting whatever currently takes their fancy, and banana ball.
